72zcar
Hello. 91 350 chevy Gm Goodwrench crate motor stock. With Pertronix Flame Thrower HEI PerformanceDistributor, 50,000 Volt Flame Thrower Coil, MSD 6A Ignition Box, and 600 edelbrock carb. Question: what should I time it at? I have a timing light but not sure if it should be 5 before tdc or 10 before ... or even tdc... any help? thanks, bob
Tim240z
Depending on the altitude where you are...... Start off with about 10* BTDC initial timing, and total timing with advance should end up around 36*. That sould be a good starting point. Only way to get it perfect would be to Dyno tune it, or keep pushing it up until you begin to get ping, then back it off a couple of degrees. Graeme
I bought the service manual for my 327 and it has 350 specs as well but only up to 1980. The timing is between 6 and 10 btc seems the more power the engine puts out in factory form the more advanced it is. I would set it at 8btc and see how she goes.
