majik16106
ok, i know the r200 is a must for big power, i plan on swapping one, however, im confused by which r200's were LSD and which were open. If I can, i would like to have the 3.54 in a limited slip.. does anyone sell them, ive gathered at this point the 3.54 is an open, and the 3.73 is the lsd, but i know there is like a 4.11 and like a 4.88 all the way back down to a 3.3x or something. so can someone make out a list of each diff gearing and if it is available stock in lsd or open diff, and then if its available aftermarket in an lsd. j260z
87 and later 300zxs came with the lsd. there are some 86 300zx turbos that came with the lsd also but not all. anything earlier came with the open diff. there were two different r200s. the ones from the 260 2+2s and 280s up to 83 came with the 10mm ring bolts then somewhere in 84 they change to 12mm ring bolts. as for the lsd units i know that the NA 300s came with the 3.7:1 but am not sure about the turbo cars. They aren't direct bolt in swapable to 240/260/280/280ZX's -84 through 89 R200's used a 12mm bolt in the ring gear. Earlier R200's used a 10mm bolt in the ring gear, so you can not swap gear sets with the older R200's Side note: -85 and 86 200SX Turbo has the (4.11) (R200) REMEMBER that this is the way the cars came STOCK! !M! dmyntti
You could pick up a 3.54 geared R200 and swap in an LSD carrier. That is what I plan. The 3.7 LSD's are hard to find they are a clutch type and are an easier swap but the VLSD are easier to find but the gear ratios are lower. If you get a VLSD make sure you get the axles with it. There is lots of info on this site about it. Good Luck
