Phantom
After a couple weeks of driving: 1) The phantom coolant evidently was just some voids that hadn't been fully purged out so now all is fine there. 2) Brakes - Toyota 4x4 up front and drums in back - not enough. Too much time near triple digits. I smell upgrade comig. 3) AC - 15-20 psi on suction and 150 on discharge indicates problem with expansion valve - it's integrated with the evaporator - $450 from Nissan - ouch! 4) suspension - new Urethane everything on its way. 5) Body - Lots of rubber seals - on their way. 6) T56 - Oops - going south - needed synchros in 6th, now needs them in 5th & 6th. Hope it can hold on a while longer. 7) Tires - 30 psi vs 36 psi and heat makes difference in wheel hop problem. Hotter and higher is bad. 8) LS1 - what a beast - pulls like a rock star from 3,000 to the rev limiter - which I've found too many times. Need to watch the tach more closely. 9) Chassis Dyno - hope to get that done week after next. Traveling this week and next week. Stay tuned for the numbers. Guest Potent68
For your T-56, this site sells everything you need, if you are looking into rebuilding it yourself. They also have a pretty good deal on rebuilding it if you send it in to them. http://www.ddperformance.com Tom
Guest the_dj
I'm hoping mine holds on until I can pay for an automatic. I'm going to be swapping my T56 for this baby (warning link has sound playing...stupid web page). The manufacturer's link is broken, but you can read about it here. Phantom
Tom, Rebuild of the T56 is covered under "warranty". I already talked with the gent who provided the unit and he is al set to take it apart and make it right. Small aggravation at this point. Guest Potent68
Understand the frustration, I'm trying to find a shop from over here, that I can trust to repair 2nd gear in the T-56 in my SS. Blew it out before I left. So now it's sitting in storage, waiting. I'm really anxious to hear just how much acceleration you get out of 6th gear in such a light car. My SS will do 162 mph in 5th, but if I put it in 6th, the gearing is too much for my motor to overcome, and I begin to lose speed. 80LS1T
Yeah but unlike your SS, the old Z's dont have aerodynamics on its side. A 280Z will most likely never see 162 MPH unless some serious work goes into the body to control lift on the front end. Yah a Z may fly down the road but we dont really want it to fly off the road! Guest Potent68
I figured that, I was just wondering, mainly for curiosities sake. I thought maybe somebody had configured theirs for road racing. That's all. Tom
Phantom
Well, since my speedo goes to 160, I doubt if I'll be seeing any speeds above that. I also have trouble with wiper lift above 110. Car has an Aero kit on it so I know from experience that it is stable to at least 125.
