Guest Casey240Z
Ok this all started when I discovered coolant in my oil, so I replaced the head gasket. This didn't fix the problem, I take the engine apart but I don't know what to look for. What do I do next? Is the engine salvageable? What would you guys do? Also I am a recent college graduate with nothing but time on my hands but not that much money? Please help and give me any suggestions. Thanks. Tim240z
Take the block and heads to a machine shop and have them checked for cracks and pressure tested. Also have the block deck checked for trueness and the head surfaces too. It shouldn't cost very much to have this done...less than $100 in my area. If your block is cracked, get another from a JY, or let me know...I have a nice 4 bolt main '10' block (actually complete 350). Tim
denny411
Did you use teflon sealant on your head bolts, and use a good quality torque wrench? Many times these problems are due to improper torque sequence(warping the head) and improper torque spec(too loose).
Guest Casey240Z
Thanks I will take the block and heads to a machine shop. And yes I did use a good torque wrench with the correct torque sequence and I also used teflon sealant. Thanks for the quick replies.
