Guest FordMotherFocus
I am about ready to fire up the new engine but ran into some problems tonight. I put a new battery in to be able to just turn on the fuel pump and syphen all the old gas out of the tank but it acted like it wasnt getting power. All the lights were getting power but nothing else was. It has been so long since everything worked that I don't know what is wrong. I had taken the 350 out of the car to have it rebuilt. Everything worked when I took it out. It is back in and everything is hooked up. I went tio checking the fuses and saw soem other problems. I noticed one of the wires from the carb runs in through the firewall but is not hooked up to anything. Where is that wire supposed tobe run to? And one of the wires from the MSD 6al, the wire that plugs into the box, runs up toward the firewall but is not hooked up to anything. Where should that wire be hooked up? dmyntti
The wire from the carb is probably for an electric choke. If it is then it should be wired to so that it is hot when the ignition is on. The one from the MSD might be the one that goes to the distributor to get a signal from either the points or the module depending on distributor. I am guessing on the MSD because I have never run one. Hope this helps.
72zcar
yep the wire from the carb is for the choke... i soldered mine to the fuse box on the top left (i think), the one labled air conditioning since it was not used anyhow and is operated on the switch. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the tank to make draining the tank easy as pie...
