David K
Are there such thing as aluminum suspension bushings? What are the pros and cons of using a solid material for suspension bushings?
Guest Thurem
Aluminum is not very resistant to abrasion, so it would wear really quick. Also if your suspension moves in more than one plane it would bind and break. For solid suspension bushings ball or heimjoints would be the way to go. The downside of the idea is the wheel and road noiise that would be transferred into the car. Mikelly makes a setup like that. Thure
auxilary
Yes. G-Machine produces offset camber bushings, which are made of aluminum surrounded by a thin delrin shell. These are for race only, because they wear out quickly and make an unpleasant ride. Alternative is also Nylon, but I don't know anyone making nylon bushings for the Z. David K
I was thinking of a more durable material because the bushings that i have on my Z now were only changed 1 year ago, and they are already cracking to the point they are going to fall off. Guest greimann
Which bushings are you talking about? Control arm, TC rod, sway bar?
David K
TC Rod and Sway Bar. Also the mounts for the rear crossmember.
auxilary
Well, as far as TC bushings go you can get the TC kit for 30 bucks, and that's half aluminum half delrin, about as close as you can get.
