Phantom
I've gotten a "POP" 3-4 times now out of my LS1 when I was backing down from fairly high rpm (5,000) in 3rd or 4th. That doesn't seem right to me. What could that be symptomatic of? Valve problem?
Guest jff1968
Exhaust backpressure most likely. My C5 Vette (LS1) did that from high RPM all the time with the aftermarket cat-back exhaust and headers I was running at the time. I was running rich too. The combination exacerbates the symptoms you are seeing. Fantastic job on the swap BTW. Been trolling this forum/topic awhile! Guest benjlv
sounds like a good excuse to get rid of that 2.5" pipe.
Lone Star 1
I've heard a lot of LS1 M6 do that, but I can't say I remember mine ever backfiring.
Lone Star 1
Cool three post in a row and I have not seen the dreaded Invallied session.
Guest chip
Thats pretty common out of the LS1. My 2001 vette does it all the time. You'll get to like the sound
Phantom
Turns out that it's the DFCO - Decel Fuel Cut-out - function of the ECM. It is not usually noticable on a car with OEM exhaust but becomes apparent on one with a less restrictive exhaust. Bottom line - it's supposed to do it, I'm just not supposed to be able to hear it.
