Ok. Ive bought a 350 and am going to buy a kit this weekend. Ive been told that with the torque ill be putting out, my lug nuts will snap. i found a rear disc brake kit with a 5 lug nut option. i think i read of people putting vette diffs and suspension set ups instead. which is better? thanx in advance...

ARP makes some really strong lugs. I'm pretty sure they'd be perfectly fine. The only reason I'd want to go to five lug would be the wheel selection. As for the differential, I believe an R200 would hold up ok, but I'd be a little worried about the half shafts if you are planning on dragging the car. If you really want a good answer, talk to ScottieGNZ about his car and the rear ends he's been through.

I'm running 311 RWHP (366 flywheel), 326 RWTQ with the original 4-lug pattern. You'll have to tub the car, get really wide tires , and more HP/torque than I have to break them. With the T56 and 3.70:1 differential I'm putting over 3,200 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels in 1st.

You won't break lug nuts, there are many weaker links than that. Don't waste your money on a 5 bolt conversion.

THe R200 in the later (75-83) Z's is plenty strong for most applications. The weak link is the U-joints, and its not too hard or costly to convert to CV's.

With an R200 running CV's you're likely good to 600ft-lbs... Unless you are running a grippy clutch and some grippy tires and lauching like a maniac. Way more than you need from your description.
