Guest zfan
Awsome Gary, How fast do you want to go I see 10's with that set up. Mike
Lone Star 1
Well Scottie inspires me, but low 10's might be a little to fast.
Phantom
Gary, How you going to hook up all that HP? You must be doing something serious under the rear fender wells. Also - did you look at the http://www.procharger.com site? The "Import Night" at Ennis is this July 26th?
Lone Star 1
Well BF Goodrich has a new DR out with a 245R5014 that should take care of things. July 25 is Ultimate Street night, I don't think the import racing has a class for V8's. I still have to get this pass one more major hurdle, ( THE WIFE ) will see $5000.00 a little steep! Maybe for the next five years birthday and X-mas presents.
Phantom
Will the 245's work with stock 14" wheels without coil-overs or flaring the rear wells? I have heard that it can be done but haven't seen anyone do it yet. Wouldn't a 60 series be better to get a little more sidewall action? Show the wife the pro-charge first. It's about $8,000 so $5,000 will almost seem a bargain by comparison.
Z-Dreamer
I went to the BFGoodrich.com and didn't see anything about a 245/50/14 Drag Radial? Where did you here about this? Mark
Guest zfan
Gary, A bunch of us are going to fast friday's this friday the 18th at Ennis. If your not busy bring the Z and take a 1/4 or 2. I think it is from 6:30 until midnite. Also is not as busy as ultimate street night and more serious racers there as well. If you talk to Rick B. ask him if he is going! Lone Star 1
Opp's my bad that's a 225R4514 I was looking at it's only 22" tall and with my 3.36 gears I was hopeing for a little higher (closer to 6500 RPM's) trap RPM's. Goodrich says that these DR's don't depend on side wall flex for traction. I was also looking at the 235R6015's, but if I go that route, I might need the 3.7 or higher gears. Mike if your going for sure let me know. The only thing I don't like about fast fridays is that they tech your car and tell you If you go 11's your out. Guest zfan
I'm going for sure and so are 5 other cars. 2- Jenson-Healy V8 conversions, 1-Austin-Healy V8 conversion, 2000 Mustang GT and a early 80's RX-7 with a 13b and twin turbo's. And my Z will be hoping for 12 flat or better. Ran 12.30 last time out but have since added drag radials 235/60-15, my best 60 ft.'s were 190's so 1.60's would get me close. Phantom
What? We're thinking maybe we need 3.70:1? Vindication!!!!!! Gary - Where do you have your rev limiter set? Stock heads & valve train? I'm limited to 6,000 rpm which puts me right at 120 mph in 4th with 225/50-16's and the 3.70:1 R200.
Phantom
LONE STAR 1 - I was over at Arlington Motorsport Racing today. They said you had them do your ECM? Have you had anything else done there? What do you think of their service / workmanship? I told them that I thought you definitely had your tranny problem fixed after the 11.9 last Friday. BTW - they quoted a 450 RWHP procharger, installed and tuned, for ~ $5,700-5,800. They indicated that they had done at least one LS1 conversion in a Z. Have your heard about it? I thought we had the only two in the area? Someone is sure keeping it quiet.
Lone Star 1
They seem to know there stuff. I know of no other LS1 powered Z's. Just order the Magna Charger today, they said it takes about two weeks to get here. Also found out that this charger won't work on the F-body motor's pully system, so I'm changing mine to the C5 configeration. The C5 belt runs about an inch closer to the motor. It's going to be close as to the hood clearence maybe a 1/2".
Guest zfan
I'll have to keep an eye out for a sneaky fast Z Mike
Phantom
ZFAN - what wheels are you running your DR's on? I need to find a pair of 15x7's that'll fit he 235/60-15's under my stock wheel well.
Guest zfan
Bill, I'm running Fluted Centerlines 15x7.5's with 235/60-15 B.F.Goodrich drag radials. I'm not sure of the back spacing though. I can find out tonight or tomorrow. Mike
Phantom
Thanks Mike! Now if I can just find something used!
Lone Star 1
Bill you need a 15 to 20 mm positive offset for those tires. My Pansports are 0 offset, and I had to roll the fenders to get them to not rub. I have about 3/8" + between the tires and the struts, but the fenders are close. I believe the snowflake wheels have the right offset if you can fine a set of those.
Phantom
Gary, a +10mm offset is about .020" over 3/8" so that would move the edge of the tire almost into the suspension if you've got just over 3/8" clear now. I'll keep looking. Just need something as inexpensive as possible for now. Snowflakes? What are those?
