Guest Looking for apt in Alb Ny
Hey all this is related to the AP brakes mounting we are building. With my calculations the caliper will hang over the hub 13mm. Is that enough for your typical wheels. I know if you are running Ross's adapters it will be more than enough with Honda rims. But Adam has 0 offset 18 inch and I would like to machine this right the first time. If that is not enough clearance I will have to make the caliper bracket more intricate which would suck and make the kit slightly more expensive. Thanks in advance Juan
johnc
My custom Monocoque 15 x 8 wheels had 2mm from the wheel mating surface to the back of the spokes, my custom Monocoque 16 x 9 wheels had 5mm for the same measurment, my custom Kodiak 16 x 10 wheels have 19mm and my 15 x 7, 0 offset Panasports are 28 to 32mm for the same measurement. Guest z1 performance
Juan - sorry for being out of the loop the last week..been nuts at work. Anyway, I should clarify - I am not sure if my wheels are 0 offset..if I said that previously, I apologize. Front wheels are 18x8.5, and required no spacers nor longer wheel studs to fit (as they were measured and made for my car). Hopefully that helps you! blueovalz
John makes a good point here. All wheels are different, and to make sure your wheels will fit, you need to measure the difference between the back side of the "spokes" and the plane of the mounting surface. If this is measurement is larger (by at least a couple of millimeters) than the amount that the caliper is extending past the hub, then you will be fine. My wheels only have a 6mm difference (just another different measurement).
johnc
My Monocoque 15 x 8s had exactly .030 clearance to the stock caliper and I never had a rubbing issue. If the wheels are built well then you can run them very close to the calipers.
