Tim240z
Mark, Have you done anything to the engine, or is it bone stock. Those are some pretty nice numbers! Tim
jeromio
Where'd you go, Charlotte, Atlanta, someplace else?
80LS1T
Yeah what did you do internally cause that cant be a stock motor. Guy
jt1
Yeah what did you do internally cause that cant be a stock motor. Guy I don't think Mark's motor is stock. You should see it run on the track, I've been chasing him around CMP for a while now. The rest of the car is just as sweet as the motor, too. Those are some good numbers, Mark. Have you made some improvements, planning some and establishing a baseline, or just curious to see what she'd do? John
Guest Anonymous
I was out running around Saturday and a local shop had a mobile dyno there for the day. $60 for three pulls. I thought what the heck. It was really fun, just wish I had been beter prepared to change a few things to see if any thing was gained. Motor is a 93 lt-1 with lt-4 heads and cam. Been together for about 3 years on a stock never been apart bottom end. So far so good. John, when are you heading back to the track? Guest zfan
That's pretty impressive numbers. Do you know what the heads flow? Mike
80LS1T
Yeah Im also impressed with the #'s. You shoul have about 375HP at the crank then!(thats with a 15 % drivetrain loss) Isn't the torque usually higher than the horsepower though? Oh and do you have the LT4 Hotcam or just the LT4 cam? jt1
$60 for three pulls is a good deal IMO- Last mobile guy I saw, at the track, was getting $90 for three pulls. Of course I suckered up and paid it. There's a guy in Rutherfordton who has a fixed chassis dyno, he gets $150 for the first hour, then $100/hr after that. I'm going to take mine up there and fine tune the jetting one of these days..... I'm going to the T1 deal Sept 19th. Do you think you'll make it? Still going to VIR the 5th & 6th? Guest Anonymous
John, So what kind of numbers did the car do? I probably will not be at the Turn one event, going to VIR for the 6and 7 is about all I can do for September. Looking for something in October. Any ideas? Thanks fo r the compliments on the numbers, I have the cam card at the house, I'll post the numbers. At least I have a base line now. jt1
The PCA boys are gonna be there Oct 4-5. I've already sent my money for that, and T1 again Oct 17. Dyno run was last August, with the car just as I bought it from David. 308hp/354tq, peaking at just 5100 rpm. I was a little disappointed. Since then I've changed cams, added the MSD, switched the leaking bitch 700R4 for the TKO, and cut the choke tower off the Holley. It feels a good bit stronger now, but don't have any numbers. Best change I've done lately is seal the radiator to the radiator support and seal the holes in the radiator support. That cut temps at the end of a run 40*, from 240* to 200*. That's bound to be easier on the motor. John
Guest Anonymous
That is a huge drop in temps, Sounds like it would be worth the effort to try that on my car. The turn one event in October sounds like the best possibility for October. Hope to see you there, just have to check the master schedule, you know the wife's calander. Mike kZ
Why don't you guys come down to the next SEZS event! It's not that far for you. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20220&start=
jt1
Hope to see you there, just have to check the master schedule, you know the wife's calander. Don't you mean the "Master's" schedule? Surely the new wheels will gain some consideration, otherwise I don't know what you can do. I know what you mean, I was pumped up to go to VIR with you, and Gail shot that down with a quad 50. Why do women love the beach so much anyway? I mean, you can't drive your car up and down the beach! Mike, I might ride down to meet people and check out their cars, but doubt I'll bring mine. It's set up for road racing, stiff springs & shocks, stiff sidewall road racing tires, light weight clutch and flywheel, lots of rear camber, and 280Z halfshafts with 240Z stubs. I could probably pull a 3.0 60' before scattering the halfshafts all over the track. It would be neat to meet people and see their cars though. Guest JAMIE T
Those numbers aren't too bad. I made 340hp, 340tq(at the wheels of course) with my stock bottom end LT1. Ported and polished stock heads, LT4 HOT cam, CSI elec. water pump, and Hooker Super Comp long tube headers(with stock Z28 Cat-back). I'd like to put that engine in my 240Z someday.
