Z-Driver
I was set on dropping my 350/700r4 in this weekend and I hit a huge snag . I have been looking all over for 5/16 mild steel for the setback plates. Are there any other thicknesses that work 1/4, 1/2? I live in a smaller town and no one carries that thickness. I wanted to check because the dimensions of the spacers would have to change then too right? wrong? Thanks a lot
spdsk8r
If all that is available is 1/4 or 1/2, I would go with the 1/2 and reduce the spacers thickness by 3/16. That would be my way around it.
Ray
try 3/8 if they dont have that you can always take and layer 1/8 it to make 3/8. I wouldn't go 1/2 as I thought 5/16 was over kill the factory brackets are only 1/8....
johnc
.125 mild steel should be more then enough. A few well placed gussets will stiffen it plenty for engine mounts.
Z-Driver
Thanks for the help. I finally found a shop that could get the 5/16. So that works out great. But I still have to wait till next weekent then to drop it in the car.
