JoeinCA
actually... when i played tournys i was a back player. because we had guys that were thinner and faster than i. I'm not very small, nearly 6 ft 220. I was only about 5'5" 180 back when i was playing. But in recball i had no problem beating most people to the front line... you should try finding a generally safe lane to run and seeing if you can get to where you are behind the opposition... that is some tense action... rushing buildings, running the tape and bunkering the whole way... crazy. Once you get to know a certain field, you get a good feel for where people expect you to be... and how not to be there. Man i have GOT to get a paintball gun again... i have a beat up impy that i may be able to get working... but i need a HPA tank... The bushmaster is the best buy for the money though. it is a very nice and competitive marker, it is short (front to back) and light. I used to run a 68ci flatline tank with a Kapp Drop zone 2, the tank stuck out about 1.5 inches behind the marker, and i ran a 10" and a 12" dye boomstick, along with a 12" Dye ss. all on a BL defiant with cocker threads.... I went to an angel shortly after selling that marker. A great stock class marker, which may be better suited to woods play is the Phantom. Awesome, i owned one and i absolutely loved it. yup, Joe
Jwink25
I was thinking about getting a Bushmaster gun for more of the speedball stuff. So, its a good gun? One guy I talked to said it was kinda crappy. But, I think it was more of his lack of skill and maintance on the gun. Speedball is fun in some ways...but I still perfer the woods. I just love the hunt. I loved to play army as a kid. Caputre the flag is great too. Jason
Guest BigWhyteDude
if your more into the realizism part of the game you might want to look at a good high end air soft gun. they shoot 6mm plastic BB's at from 250 to 500 fps. 500 is way too high for me enough to make you bleed.ALOT. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com you have to import the good ones from japan though:( its really big over there and in Europe. played a few times with some buddies of mine but its not for me. 80LS1T
Nah I rather shoot paintballs at my friends! I dont want to hurt anyone or anything like that. Is the Tippman A-5 "better" than the Tippman 98? And which is better Nitrogen or Air? Co2 doesnt seem the way to go. Guy
JoeinCA
If you plan on buying an electronic marker, or an autococker, or automag, you should only run HPA. High pressure air is the same deal as Nitrogen as far as the marker is concerned, same tanks and everything. C02 can be used effectively on normal blowback style markers, and pump guns without much fear, though o-rings will wear faster, because they are subjected to large temperature variations, and impurities. It is important not to subject the solenoid that operates the bolt to c02 on electronic markers. The a5 marker is the latest and greatest evolution of the trusy 'ole m98. they can come equipped with a nice integrated ball feed system, and auto response trigger. There are also electronic conversion kits that will give you the trigger pull that is matched only by the top dollar high performance electro markers. that component is sorta pricey though. M98s are beasts though, long, heavy, sort of crudely designed though they are extremely rugged. the bushmaster is a quality marker. if you take some time figure out how it works, it will not fail on you. keep it clean, and that is it. they have delrin bolts i believe, and are self lubricating. (like most electros.) did i miss somthing? Joe
80LS1T
So for a good paintball set up I should buy... The Tippman A-5... Flatline Barrel... A remote bottle set up?... Electronic Trigger.... What about Lazer sites? Are they worth it? What will I need to make mine run on HPA? Like should I buy a filling station? Are there any fittings or special things needed to run on HPA? Since the A-5 has a ball loader will I need anything else as far as loader is concerned? Thanks guys for all the help! Jwink25
I have a laser sight on my Tippman with the flatline barrel. It doesn't work all that well. Mostly because paintballs tend to curve a bit sometimes. Paintball guns are not as accurate as a real gun. BUT, for looks and and playing mind games with your opponents...get it. My laser sight has a small push button that can be placed just about anywhere on the gun. Mine is near the trigger. So, I can have it on only when I press the button down. That way I do not give up my location by having a red light on all the time. I can also have it on all the time, if I so choose. Nothing like playing a night game and seeing the people jump when they find a red dot on them. Works really well on the noobs. They panick and forget to fire or just fire wildly. I then pick them off at my bidding. Ha ha. I also have a scope, but have it mostly for looks. I must look like Rambo to some players. If you use the flatline make sure you line up the barrel correctly. If not...your paintballs will curve a lot. Good luck in choosing a gun that's right for YOU. And always play safe. You will have tons of fun. Jason
Guest BigWhyteDude
its pritty funny to shoot a flatline m98 side ways you get a nice cuve in the balls chajector (SP) about 40-50 feet out. though the flat line does shoot farther than any other barrell (that i know of) at the extream ranges a hit is not garenteed to break on the target. (shameless Plug) By the way is any oneis interested i have a Tippy M-98 with a lapco big shot, a flatline barrel, a bluez 3+1 pack with a bluez belt with 4 100 round pods and just about any CO2 tank size you want for sale. looking to get $200 out of it. If you are interested im me and ill get back to you.(end Shameless Plug)
JoeinCA
hey bigwhytedude, I'll trade you a pretty beat up impulse for your setup. One of my friend's buddies wanted me to fix it, so i did, but then he wouldnt pay for the parts, so it became mine. It has a brand new solenoid, and gaskets. It is really ugly, but i am 99% sure that it will work. If you are interested, PM me, and i will send photos.... thanks Joe
