Guest 350zgto
If you decide to go with an Autopower type (bolt onto fenderwells type) roll bar, here is any easy upgrade you may like. Cut a piece of 2" channel to fit between the shock tower supports where they meet the floor. Then you can run 1.75" diameter, 1.25" wall additional roll bar supports to the channel. Another member on this site (can't remember who, but thanks), suggested PVC tubing to use to cut and mock up for the new roll bar pieces. It works great, it clears the dome light plastic trim panel, and does not interfere with the spare tire well. The angle (@ 27') on the tubing fits the channel perfectly. Now you also have something you can tie the top of the shock mounts to.

johnc
Why? Running a channel on the package shelf between the bottom of the strut towers does nothing to stiffen the chassis and you're basically just duplicating the weak triangulation that already exists between the Autopower rear braces and the wheel well. So, you're just adding weight. If you're going to that trouble just cut out the stock Autopower rear braces and make new ones that run to the top of the strut towers and then add a horizontal brace between strut towers themselves.
