I have done some searching on here and haven't found it yet, but has anyone ever put an LT-5 into a Z? Also, does anyone have any opinions on the motor and will the DOHC heads and everything clear the hood?

I would love to see an LT5 in a "Z". My concern though is: How much support is there for that motor? It may be cheaper to wring horsepower out of an LS1 and parts are available everywhere. Of course it would be much cooler to run an LT5, kind of like the Jag V-12 one fellow on this list swapped into his Z.

Also the initial cost looks quite high. Car-part.com shows wrecking yards offering LT5 motors starting at about $10,000 and running up to $16,000. If I had that kind of money I think I'd buy a seventies or eighties Porsche 911 and sink $$$ into that.

This has come up more than once. Do a search and you will find all the answers you need. I think there is an active topic in the high tech forum.."quad cam V8" or something with a title like that.

The main issue with this motor is the fact that it costs so much to buy stock.

well I wouldn't have posted that thread if I knew how much an LT-5 cost! Well maybe the new Nissan endurance motor would be a good candidate, its a 5.6 liter V-8 that is all aluminum. Are there any other DOHC heads out there for SBC?

Yes, but they are expensive and Grumpy didn't have too many good things to say about the particular company either.

If you want a Nissan motor (4.5L V8 with DOHC and nearly 300 hp) and AT to go with it....in fact, all the necessary wiring...heck, the whole darn car, I'll sell you my Infinity Q45 for only $3000. Fly here and drive it home :-D
