Guest bastaad525
I had asked this before... does anyone know for a fact, if the '81-'83 turbo ecu's have any kind of learning ability or memory, as in, they can adjust themselves over time and will run better after being driven for a while? I've heard people mention bits on this but I was under the impression that that sort of technology is only present in much more recent model cars, that the ZXT ECU's programs were basically 'set in stone'. I'm having a strange electrical problem right now which forces me to disconnect the battery when I'm not driving the car, every day I have to do this, and I wonder if doing this and resetting the ECU, is having a negative impact on the performance of the car? Guest szlash280z
they don't have any kind of learning ability.

Guest bastaad525
So there is no effect from resetting them... or positive effect it would seem... I wonder why so many people suggest this as a possible fix when the car starts running badly?
Guest szlash280z
they suggest that because some people have a problem with loose connections down there. ya gotta have a good connection.
fl327
it doesnt have a true learning capacity built into it, but when you work on the system, it should be with the ecu unplugged and plug it in when ready to run car again. ecu has ways of dealing with missing sensor outputs, bad or faulty inputs, etc etc, basically it runs rich and slow. It will continue to do so if you dont reset the ecu-you have to clear it before you run it again when problems are fixed. Its the first round of diagnosis for me, and it does work. The learning i talked about means that I do have to drive mine a little slower when I first set it up, afm is taking in its measurements and what not, and if i pound on the gas, it will throw a 4500 rev limiter in the mix for me, which goes away after a short romp on the freeway, usually.
