Guest TreeCutter260z
I have a 350 in my 260 with a griffin radiator and it will not build pressure when i run it. Just happenend suddenly. it did build pressure before but i figured the radiator cap was bad and replaced it. does the griffin require a special cap? but it didn't help. It used to run cool at 160-170 but with no pressure it runs at 190. i have a better gauge than the stock one. when i squeezed the top hose it blows coolant into the overflow. when its running it doesn't have any pressure in the upper or lower hose. I would like to fix this soon so i can drive up to the z show in NH on wedsnday. thanks matt p.s. already searched

Guest zbot43
I would agree with the radiator cap. If you squeeze the hose and water flows into the coolant reservior, you are directely bypassing the radiator cap. Make sure the seal surface on the radiator is good, and that the cap is actually being pulled down against the radiator. Is the part of the radiator the pulls the cap in tight damaged? Good luck, M
Bri
I too would have to agree with the above, but also try getting a hold of a radaitor pressure tester to rule out any leaks in your system. Make sure you have the correct adapter and pump the system up too but DO NOT GO OVER 15 PSI then let it sit for about 10 min and check the pressure if it holds at 15psi your good if it drops more than 1-2 psi of pressure pump it up again and look for leaks. Guest TreeCutter260z
i pumped up the system and it holds pressure. i just called griffin and they said i need a special cap. but thanks for the suggestions. i'm just pissed i can't take the car to NH for the big show. i gonna have to take my bike. thanks matt
Tim240z
I bet if you take your old cap to a decent parts shop, they will have something that will work! Tim
blueovalz
I'm using your typical parts house caps on my Griffin radiator AND on the Griffin in-line neck filler.
Guest TreeCutter260z
well i wasn't thinking when i bought a new cap. because there are two kinds. one with a spring loaded reliever and one without. i bought a regular stant 16 lbs. with the springloaded little reliever and it works great. now it still runs 180 with a 160 thermo. hopefully it makes it tommorow to the show. thanks guys matt
