awd92gsx
Ok...sorry if this is the wrong area to post in...but... Is $250 (shipped) for a set of Vortech 5.7 heads a decent deal? The guy also has a roller rocker setup for $100... Also...will a TPI setup work with Vortech heads?
mas28O
I am looking for a set of vortec heads for my new z. Looks like ebay has them for 200-400. Mike
awd92gsx
Ok. I'll probably go with these then, I know the guy...if I remember right, they're from a 96 engine with roughly about 50k on them. What about the roller rocker setup? awd92gsx
10239906 I read somewhere to not use these cast numbered heads...and that's what they are... Any thoughts?
DavyZ
That sounds fair for a set of Vortech heads. With a mild port/polish job, they'll be near the top of the heap in terms of flow. In fact, they don't really need much in the way of porting...I like that! Davy
mas28O
Some people thought that they flow less than other vortec heads. From what I have read they all flow about the same. I had a 1997 Vortec 350 in a 84 volvo and the only mods that I had was a Salle chevrolet cam (small) Intake and carb, stock manifolds. The car would run mid 13's in the heavy volvo so the vortec motor should run good in a z. The free Z that i just picked up has a 327 and it needs some new heads so I might put on some vortec heads. awd92gsx
Cool...is it possible to run the TPI setup on it?
Phyte
Cool...is it possible to run the TPI setup on it? I'm pretty sure you'll have to drill and tap the heads for a TPI setup. My pops just drilled and tapped an LT1 for a victor jr and holley 780dp. Should be the same. Also make sure you get a matching cam for the TPI. Stock TPI has problems breathing past about 4500 rpms. If you looking for a low end torque monster, TPI with a matched cam can't be beat. Just plan to shift early. Phyte
