Guest Anonymous
Ya know with a bit of spring tunnel notching and use of coil overs, that thing just might go in there, steering linkage would be a bear I think, but then again creative downpipe, maybe not. Sure be a thrill a second thats for damn sure. (I'm thinking in terms of Z's here) Regards, Lone
QWKDTSN
I think you'd mostly need hood clearance.. hey... I'm fine running no hood.... twin turbos make up for more air resistance
redruM_0381
Excuse me if you already noticed, but did you know there is a V8-Z hidden in that site? Goto site map in the upper left, then featured rides... in bottom left hand corner, click the little itty bitty red Z.
Guest Anonymous
Yeah, NA Z car... But not a twin turbo Z car, but it was useful if you look at the twin setup and where it might fall out in that V8 Z, they may tuck right behind the shock towers on each side, have to shield the brakes on that side I'd imagine. I always thought it was possible, either up front or where they have these. I'd settle for one large turbo where the battery is now, or there abouts. A all forged 302 CHEVY with twins, and aluminum heads pull strongly to 7K+ reliably. I could live with it, be a bit weak down low, but man that mid range would flash by like the USS Enterprise on warp. Regards, Lone
Owen
I agree the turbos would fit up front on both sides of the water pump. I've seen people selling their used SBC EX manifolds, but they look more restrictive than effective. This guy's setup is SWEET! http://www.montygwilliams.com/ Owen
Guest Speaker
i don't really see why its such a dream... go back and read some of grumpyvette's posts; he's got links to SBCs already turboed; and it seems to be quite simple it'd be much much cheaper and reliable to have a TT or T SBC 350 that makes 600hp than it would be N/A
Owen
My dream is equal length EX manifolds, not a "log" that was welded up. Preferably stainless, with external wastegate, etc. No one makes a kit for this since where the turbos can be mounted varies greatly with each car. The "dream" part of this for me is money! Guest Anonymous
I hear ya, the price on the stainless tube alone is a killer. Regards, Lone
randy 77zt
try to find an issue of popular hot rodding .the january 2002 issue.there is an article about a 1300 hp daily driver twin turbo c4 vette.article is pretty complete.car even has equal length headers feeding twin buick aftermarkit grand national turbos.car stiil has the a/c too.engine was built to breathe at high rpm and has custom ground cam .cars looks stock.a turbo engine doesnt need a lumpy cam and is quiet.all the better to kill stupid honduh's with. Guest the_dj
Twins fit on a Z to the left and right of the oil pan. They bolt directly to the collector of a set of block huggers with a 1" adapter to mate the different flange styles. They clear everything under the car without having to make any body mods, and the bottom of them sits even with the bottom of the oil pan. I'm putting a steel skid plate below them to be on the safe side, but I don't expect any problems seeing as they are right next to the front crossmember to prevent high centering. Guest Your Car is Slow
I had been thinking about that when test fitting the motor...it would appear that you could put 2 small turbos right on some huggers fine...glad someone tested this I had originally decided to go with a large single T91...but two smaller turbos would work dandy (and be easier to pipe)
