Guest jjohart
Hi.. I've an 83 280ZXT 2+2 5 speed, and I've been told there's no turn key exhaust upgrade...that it has to be custom+expensive! My knee jerk reaction is to scour for someone parting out an old conversion system, but there appear to be nil of late...anyone, anyone? Other than that, the vagaries of the information I'm being sold by aftermarket shops raises questions...why not 3 1/2, or 4, or 5 and so on, if less back pressure=more performance? After a certain point, there's a low speed loss of initial power, as I understand it, as one decreases backflow. I'm a total novice, but if anyone would like to tell me the ultimate lightweight set of pipes I need to go to the average moron to cut or order, it would be independent, and as such at least a little more reliable than depending soley on what the shop wants to sell me for sizes, material and costs! I can't put this together alone! Thanks John
280Zen
What part of the exhaust are you looking for? If your looking for a 3" manderal bent downpipe then contact Jeff Priddy on this site. Their is a group deal going right now for this very thing, but the pipes should be being built now. Other than that its all custom work. SleeperZ
The reason you don't go bigger than 3" is partly because pipes 3-1/2" and larger are harder to source and they are hard to fit without ground clearance issues. Past 3" is also of minimal benefit, unless you want to push more than 450-500hp.
