Guest Jae
would this be a good swap on a 04' maxima? or a 04' altima? my friends were talking about it the other day and one says he wants to drop a rb26dett in his 04' altima 2.5s which comes 240hp? from the factory. my other friend who owns a 04' maxima se said he wanted to do the same swap but for his maxima, im guessing about 260hp...i dont think they should do it..but what are ya'lls opinions? Guest ON3GO
they have alot of money? cuz there gonna need it. making a FWD car awd is gonna me hard and cost mega money, even more money cuz its never been done before. would be cool, but if they really wanted a turbo and awd, just sell the cars and buy a new STi and mod away... they would save money doing that. mike
Guest Dan0myte
hahaha Good luck to them. RB's are Rear Wheel Drive engines. The new Altima and Maxima are Front Wheel Drive cars. Unless they want to take out their interior, saw a hole along the floor and weld in a driveshaft tunnel, then start welding in a rear independant suspension, it's basically impossible. If they really want an RB powered car, they're going to have to buy a Nissan built for a rear wheel drive platform.
David K
would this be a good swap on a 04' maxima? or a 04' altima? my friends were talking about it the other day and one says he wants to drop a rb26dett in his 04' altima 2.5s which comes 240hp? from the factory. my other friend who owns a 04' maxima se said he wanted to do the same swap but for his maxima, im guessing about 260hp...i dont think they should do it..but what are ya'lls opinions? : 2.5 Altimas are 4 cylinders. They arent 240hp. There is no way they are going to "drop" any inline 6 in those engine bays without completely redesigning the ENTIRE car. There is no tranny tunnel for the trans in a front wheel drive car. There is NO rear drive anything to drive the rear wheels. Everything will have to be made from scratch and attached to the chassis. This is what automobile manufacturers spend MILLIONS on....research and development. Its like reinventing the wheel. This is the type of custom work a MAJOR shop would be doing if it was to be done, and it would cost well over $50,000. I dont know if you are serious, but i think you are coming here pulling our tails. I really dont think someone would buy a brand new 2004 car and think about doing what you are talking about. No way is this gonna happen, no way, nah ah..... Whats for dinner at your house?

Guest 81na ZX
You might be able to attach a volvo auto tranny to it. Volvo makes a FWD I5 (IIRC) that has the world's smallest tranny attached to it. HOWEVER, lets say, $8000 for an engine, $10000 for the tranny, $1000 custom bellhousing, $1500 custom axels, $2000 ECU, $10000 min install costs.... um thats over 30,000 to get the car to MAYBE work.
