Georgia Flash
Good morning guys, I'm sure this topic has come up here a couple of times but I couldn't find anything using the search function so here goes. I have a 76 280 with the manual 4-speed and I was wondering if a 5-speed from a ZX woud be a direct exchange into the 76. I was told a while back when I first bought my 75 Z that the ZX tranny had different bolt holes so it would not bolt up in the Z. However, I think that was told to me by someone at a salvage yard and not a Z/ZX knowledgeable person so I figured that I would ask here. Georgia Flash
Yeah I kinda thought that those folks were full of BS when they insisted it wouldn't work. Thanks.
spotfitz
As long as we stay with the 280 ZX. '70-'83 tranny are bolt in affairs. The only difference comes with the turbos/2+2's, which have a bigger flywheel/clutch. Either flywheel/clutch will work with either tranny.
