ToplessZ
Ok Fistly what are these heads good for power wise s/r torquer 305 heads 1.94/1.6 (exhaust was opened up) mild port, major bowl clean up comp cams #987 springs steam holes already drilled for 400 58cc chambers I know this is crazy but I like to be different. I plan on running a 335 (305 with 400 crank bored 30 over) 10:1 compression the above heads performer intake Also would those same heads be worth anything on a 350 or would compression be too high and not enough flow? Thanks for the help guys
Mike C
Compression will be about 10.5 on a 350, too much for iron heads IMO. (Corvette L98 aluminum heads are also 58cc chambers, but the alloy makes all the difference) You are giving up a LOT of power by staying with the small bore. Dare to be different by painting the motor PINK but for the about same amount of money you can build a 383 with Iron Eagle 215's that will make at least 100 more hp. Guest Anonymous
Mike is right... Jared, do not get carried away being different engine wise. Go with an internal parts combination that has a proven record.and then paint the engine a different color! The 305 S/R Torquer Heads (1.94 Intake/1.50 Exhaust with 58cc combustion chambers) are made for 305 cubic inch motors. Now here is my thoughts: There were some early Z 28 Camaros that had this short stroke SBC 302 engine that was a screamer developed by Corvette GM wizard Duntov. These are also the Camaros going for a premium by collectors. It was a 327 with a 283 crank (?). Pinned you to the back of the seat between 50 and 95 mph. From my way of thinking the 305 heads would be a natural for a short stroke 302 and a Muncie 4 speed in a Z for street racing.. after 50 mph nothing would stay with you.
