for you guys racing your zees what is the best set up that will handle the h.p.

will the stock rearend handle juice{n02}

what about the frame?

if possible could someone with a high h.p. z describe what they did to make it a strong runner!!!!

You don't want to run nitro on a stock rear. It won't hold up to the sudden shock to it.

 

I'm running something like 400HP at the rear wheels, best guess and I've done a lot of mods to my car to make it what I would consider safe. A 6 point cage is minimum for safety and structural stiffness. I also am running 2inch X 3inch boxed steel sub frame connectors. I'm also running some seam welding and plates in some of the more flexible areas. I do plan to take my cage through the firewall and back to the rear bumper strut mounts so I can add more stiffening. If you plan to put serious power to the car you will have to upgrade the diff.

Mike, be careful about putting the cage all the way back. In a rearend collision you want some "crush" between you and the thing hitting you to absorb force. In my case I chose not to run the bars all the way back. One of the problems aside from removing the crush area is that the impact will distort the cage around you as it takes the blow if it's all the way back IMO.

I am running a Buick 3.8L turbo with about 400hp at the wheels. Like Mike, I have a 6-pt cage, F&R strut braces. C-channel steel are in the works for the frame rails to reduce flexing. I am still running the stock IRS with an R-200 and CVs. With a trans-brake and 8psi boost, car launches hard and straight and feels rock solid at 120mph.
