Guest jdllaugh
Check out the flairs on this Supercharged Ford Z on Ebay. Sunday morning price was already at $18K!!!! Oops! Just realized I posted in the wrong forum. Oh well. Says it has a T5 tranny with a motor that makes 550 hp.... I didn't think a T5 could live with that much hp. Guest zfan
That is one bad ass Z, Im no big ford fan but wow. My Ford friends tell me that the stroked 331 with superchargers make incredible power. Car is trick if you got the big bucks. Do not think the 5 speed will last thou. Mike
Guest jwelch
Wow! Where is the extra 18K when you need it? Regardsm
Guest Anonymous
For my tastes the squared boxed flares don't really fit the lines of the car (they look great on a boxy 510, but on a Z?), but thats a personal preference. Also it has no side windows.. (mirror mounted on rollbar) So I'm assuming its a full on race car? 55k sounds like a lot, didn't Biando have like 35k into his was as nice as that one wasn't it? blueovalz
Just goes to show that 35 year old technology still works well. These old Shelby "blow through" carb systems are still seen from time to time on Ebay for less than a $1000.
Guest Anonymous
Yeah your right Terry, it still works. My uncle had a 63 Studebaker Grand Turismo and it had a old paxton (might have been McCullogh (sp?)) setup blowing into a carb on its 289 motor. It put out 289 hp and was pretty damn cool doing it. I believe it was the same blower unit that was a rare option on 57 Tbirds on the Y-block. Theres a Stude blow-through forum on yahoo, those guys have pumped over 25 lbs into a carb enclosure housing 2 AFB's.. Regards, Lone
pparaska
Lone, I don't care for the box flares either, but to each his own. I don't find it hard to believe that $55K was spent. And if someone loved that car and was thinking of building one like it, $18K would be a steal, IMO. That thing has been touched EVERYWHERE to maximize performance. Fiberglass doors, hatch, hood, fenders. 2400lbs. I like the door bars - I was thinking of doing that at one point. Jim Biondo once told me he had way over $35K in his car. (I don't think the number was for public consumption though - so I won't report it.) Had the receipts to prove it. Ouch. BTW, Jim recently sent me pics of his Dad's (used to be his) V8Z. He wanted me to scan them in. I also think he wanted me to post them somewhere. If so, I'll make a post about it. He has 5 lug Integral SRR wheels, and his own design of Wilwood brakes/brackets, on and used Corvette stub axles to do it with. I also have details of that swap. Guest Anonymous
Nice car, but the upper part of the box flares need about 100 pounds of bondo to fill in those snack and drink trays on all four sides.
Guest jdllaugh
Hey, that $18k bid disappeared! Now it says $10k with Zero bids, and a $23.9k "buy it now" price. Interesting.....
