Guest the_dj
I just bought a heads/cam package from ebay. What do you think: Heads: Click here Cam: Click here Right now I have a stock TPI small block (with SLP runners). This should be an improvement. Anyone know what I can get for my current heads/cam? Thanks, Sam
Guest greimann
Hopefully the cam is in good condition, and looking at the specifications, you are going to need to replace the computer with a programmable one. That cam won't idle on the stock computer. and the fuel map is going to be way off for the other RPM ranges. You should probably replace the entire induction system as the TPI is not really matched for that combination.

Guest Anonymous
just some thoughts.what year is the TPI..it may have a stock roller cam...so going to a flat tappet.?and used lifters. the heads are a great buy for 400 bucks...are you gonna be able to use those springs, retainers with the cam you bought or your cam in the TPI (spring pressure seat/open) then theres the angle of the intake to consider...what year TPI was that? but the split is in 87 i believe...was that a 305 or a 350 TPI...305 will have the 58cc chambers. and with the 64 cc heads you have it will lower compression plus i think you may have to notch the block to fit the 2.02 valve on the 305....but then im just rambling. Guest the_dj
It is a 350. It was purchased as a crate motor and the TPI was fitted later. I am moving to a flat tappet cam from a roller cam. That may take some effort but should work out OK. What other parts will I need to make the switch? Sam
Guest the_dj
That's a negative on the flat tappet cam. I'll be using some sort of a roller cam, so I'll need a new cam. Probably a hyd. roller. Sam
Mike C
If you have an L98 with the aluminum heads you should be able to get at least $300 for them. If you have the iron heads, they will work well to hole the door open on the shop...unless you can find somebody who just needs a set of stock replacements which is unlikely as most people want to upgrade.
