Guest jjohart
Hi, my car's in the shop getting custom intercooler pipes which the installer has decided to run behind the headlight rear access panels. I am concerned that I won't be able to change out the headlight or bulb (H4) if these pipes have to be disconnected/connected. Does anyone know if it's possible to get headlight access by removal of the fibreglass headlight front trim piece-how do they come off, can they be modded (which in my car, an 83 280ZXT, also have headlight washers in them!)? I can't believe that the only way to service the headlamps is through those little underhood access panels (my last mechanic went as far as taking off the fender before getting in there!). Thanks John
Gollum
well, that crome ring around the headlight is what keeps it in. It's connected via 3 screws that if you loosen will free the headlight if you tunr counter-clockwise and ta-da. Now, you'll probly need a long srewdriver so the handle doesn't ruin your angles with it rubbing against the body. You'll probly also need to loosen the mount so you can reveal the screws. It think it's possible wit the right screws. I just changed mine and i didn't have any long screwdrivers, so my curiosity didn't get to be exersized. Hugh
Is it prohibitively difficult to remove your intercooler pipes and clear the path? I'm pretty sure it won't be possible without removing the piping... but thats easy stuff. Be sure he builds it in a way that it can be removed! Gollum
good point. Regardless on weather it's possible or not to take them out or not, the intercooler piping shuoldn't be put in in a manner that would prohibit them from being taken out with ease.
