Guest 240Z_72
Looking over my recently purchased V8Z, I see that the fuel and return lines from the fuel cell all the way up to the carb, are all rubber fuel line. I understand this must have been much easier and cheaper, but is it safe? This is basically my weekend stoplight drag car, will never see foul weather, garaged kept, etc. If I keep an eye on the condition of the lines, is it okay to keep this system the way it is? Thanks, Kurt
Tim240z
As long as the tubing is in good condition (not cracking or perishing) and is routed away from heat and is secure and not chaffing on anything, there's nutin' wrong with that. Just make sure it has support at least every couple of feet ('P' clamps or something). Tim
pparaska
Just an FYI, NHRA rules say no more that 12" of rubber fuel hose in the entire system.
Guest Anonymous
Spooled aluminum on a roll for fuel line, or braided $tainless $teel would be better (or even steel line) as far as long term durability. The new barbed fittings and hose is attractive to me as well. Rubber tends to weather and crack after a while of undercar heat and stuff. Hard lines will last far longer if you make sure they aren't next to heat sources and you properly secure them with rubber lined clamps. Just an opinion to be sure.
