Z32 with a Chevy 350 Turbo.

Recommended Posts

Hello there;

I just joined the forum today and I have to say, that after going though the search engine and looking at some of the posts, that you are some of the nicest people I have ever met on the internet. I've been on TwinTurbo.net for 2 years and all they do is criticize anyone who has there own mind and likes to do things a little different.

Well, I got my '93 Z two years back and had problems ever since. The engine always had attitude, and now a month back I had an engine fire. I always had all the maintenance done on it, everything you could think of and after all that dedication the engine still didn't like me. The car is ok, but the engine compartment looks like hell.

I LOVE the car, the interior, the body, BUT that engine has got to go!!! So, a Chevy 350 sounded great. I've done most of my research and the cost is in my budget and the mods don't scare me, but help is always good.

The plan is to put a Chevy 350 (fuel injected of course) with a turbo, and a manual transmission in my beautiful Z. Here’s my dilemma, I love the Z look and don't want to alter the outside appearance too much.

If anyone is working on the project, pics would be awesome!!!

And yes, Adlashwa’s manual sounds like a very good idea.

Thank you all for listening.

Dan

first off.. a warm welcome to the board!!! :D

as for your car.... i can't say i've seen too many z32's gone that way.. so right off the bat you've earned some points for thinking outside the box! :cheers: as for keeping the stock look, the only problem you might encounter regards space in the bay for the turbo(s), but i'm not sure if you'd clear the stock hood. there are a million different styled aftermarket hoods out there though, and some have to offer more clearance.

since i'm the first to welcome you here... when it's done i want a ride!! :wink:

Hey man I totally agree. I am also new to hybridz, these guys are way cool and crazy (some of you are addicted to speed worse than a crackhead),Ive posted a few things on TT.net and they can be jerks. I aslo have a 90 300zx tt. It only has under 55k so everything is goin smoove and I wanna keep it that way. So i found an old 240 for 700 bucks and am in the process of workin on it and getting the chevy in there for daily romping. What i am "suggesting" (if you want a fast car) is go for the datsun. I have the z32 i know what it is. It is a heavy car and parts are expensive (nevermind custom fabrication and shop time). The datsun swap is way easier (and I think with a body kit they look almost as good). I know someone who swaped a v8 in a z31 (same frame as z32) it was nice but all the custom work ended up producing a low 13's car, whick could be achived with a moded turbo. Im not trying to tell not to go for your idea im just making a suggestion. You could probably sell your car and have the money to do most of the datsun swap. And if your not in to speed and want a reliable engine, remember poor care can kill a z engine fast, if cared for they can run a long time. they re good engines. But if you just wanna z32 with alota torque (which i feel the tt lacks a little) then do the extra work and go for the v8, but just remember that money will go alot farther and faster (down the trak) in the datsun.

ohh yeah, if you realy like the way the z32 looks and have the money keep it make it flashier for the girliez on the weekend, and build the datsun as a maintainable everyday vette killer...thats what im doin... cause I know what you mean, the z32 cars are beautiful, and two zees are better than one.
