EvilRufusKay
I have done some searching but I am looking for opinions on which is better and why? Thanks, Rufus
CruxGNZ
Those % lugs are awful. I hear that a certain percentage of those have failed. !M!

EvilRufusKay
oops!! You will notice the % sign is right above 5... soooo 5 lug or Honda adapter.....
CruxGNZ
I was just play'n. Sometimes I do it too. You are so used to hitting the "shift" key when you start a new sentence. As for the 5 lug or adaptor question, I know there is countless posts about them. Maybe the search engine is not working properly. The consensus is adaptors work just fine, but it's hard to find a wheel wider than 8" in that lug pattern. If you go 5 lug, you'll have LOTS more wheel choices (diameter & width). Also, adaptors just bolt on, changing to 5 lug is a bit more involved than that. !M!

Modern Motorsports Ltd
I have done some searching but I am looking for opinions on which is better and why? Thanks' date=' Rufus[/quote'] Better for what? if you're doing 10 second 1/4 miles I'd go 5lug with 1/2" studs although guys have gone as fast with weaker wheel combos Either setup can allow many easy wheel/tire combos. When I swapped my ride to 5lug the Z to Honda adaptors I didn't yet have fully brewed:) I had 16x7 zero offset wheels (2 sets) I sold and did my 5lug conversion FULLY and had change left over. I now have 3 sets of identical 16x8 Rx7TT 16lb wheels (forged aluminum) in 5x4.5 that I don't bother having tires swapped....just set up track's on one set and street's on another. But it would be the same with Honda wheels. A Honda swap doesn't force you to swap your front brakes at the same time. 5lug you do have to swap your front brake setup and then you have to prep your rear stub axles to 5lug as well, likely more $ up front to go 5lug. With either you can stumble upon great ebay or used combo's on stealthy budgets or go as wild as you want on new. I do caution customers against buying cheap aftermarket HEAVY wheels, some are real duds and come in the mid 20 lb and higher range and just go up from their per wheel. This is giving up free hp and braking....their were many reasons I went to the Rx7TT wheels (Z32's similar but harder to get in full sets in an 8" or wider width at same pricing). Some folks know the style of wheel they like and then elect 4lug to Honda or 5lug from their........with both you can later swap wheels of very similar specs on and off with ease. That's why I shy away from panasports/revolutions etc.....I'm quite tight with my $'s and buying those I immediately take that depreciation and they're harder to resell. My RX7's I've had lots of offers on and cobra/Z32/Toyota wheels are common/used/in good shape and cheap (same as Honda type wheels). their's a few cents worth:)
Roggaman
I´m building my own 5-lug hubs in a lathe as I´m not that fond of the bolt on modell. I´m going for the BMW´s 5*120 (mm that is). At least in Europe one can find cheap wide wheels for BMW everywere (up to 11" wide)
EvilRufusKay
Thanks Ross! I guess my question was vague at best sorry. I was trying to ask...Why use 5 lug? Is there a better wheel selection? or is it related to torque force applied to the studs? You answered both questions perfectly without even knowing what I was asking!!! Thanks! I guess now I will start to look around for the wheels that I want and decide frome there. I appreciate your time. Rufus
Guest ColoradoZ
Hey Ross im pretty new to this whole scene, but im going to build up a l28et like sleeperZ, and he lives about 60 miles away, and i would really like to know if their is a 5 lug conversion for all 4 corners, im going to mainly focus on suspension set-up. im going to go with ground control coilovers, tokico illumina adjustables, xtreme 13" brakes, rear 5 lug brake conversion, and the 280 cv conversion, and some swaybars. plus the typical r200 swap. but i do also have one more question after that. Is a phantom grip any good, if so would one made for the 240sx(s14) r200 fit in one from like a 83? i need to find a r200 with 3:73 or so gearing.
