dot
Just a quick question…are all first generation Z, front, stamped steel, lower control arms all the same?

katman
Not exactly. While they're all interchangeable, there was a subtle design change after '71 I think. The early ones are more prone to cracking in an ITS type racing situation. Proly nothing to be concerned about on a street car.
Trevor
Also the bushing isn't centered, the middle "tube" sticks out farther to the back. You can't swap a complete arm from right side to left side without pressing in the bushing facing the right way.
dot
Thanks Gentlemen: This information is great. I am rebuilding the front end, on a ’71, completely as it has not been done for many years. The system that is on the Z now works well so there will be little in the way of changes or upgrades. There is just some concern as to the condition of some of the critical parts that should be addressed as there has been many years of happy abuse and some corrosion issues. I have a line on some quality stock replacement parts and wish to pick them up. Thanks again.
