Brad-ManQ45
Anyone had any experience w/P.A.W. short block/engine kits? Considering buiding it myself (done several before, ford, capri, chevy). How is their machining. Assuming I can get it exactly the way I want it, is this a viable method of obtaining good machined blocks?
spdsk8r
I have a friend who bought a 383 complete long block kit from them many years ago. All he did was assemble it, install it and go. Man did he go! If I remember right, that was about 1990. He still has that motor, only one rebuild since and it's still strong.
Guest qwikrex
He's had to rebuild it? He running a wild cam, or just drive lotsa miles each year? If he averaged 15k a year, over like 10 years, 150k should be no sweat for a mildly built small block. Or am I mistaken here?
Guest zfan
That would be pushing the envelope...150K, even with a mild build as none of us baby our cars...Do we? Mike
spdsk8r
This was with 10.5:1 comp., forged pistons/crank, with a 500/300 cam running in a full sized Chevy pickup 4 wheel. About 12k a year over 13 years, including hard running in the sand dunes in the summer.
DavyZ
Years ago my dad ordered a complete long block kit for his Chevy Apache pickup. He had no complaints and I remembered all the parts were great, machine work was good too. No complaints and a very strong V8 engine to boot.
