Guest the_dj
Should be the same as the LS1. Not impossible, but no where near easy. Also, it's very expensive. You might be better off with a built up small block chevy, IE, more power, more reliability (brand new) and less costs. Sam
jeromio
What he said. At this point, the LS1 swap is one of those "If you have to ask" kind of things... Also, the transaxle is not usable.
Mike C
The Z06 is the same as the LS1 swap, but the 'vette has a transaxle and not a transmisison per se. The rear end and transmission are a unit. While it could be done, if you are having to ask about this conversion it may be beyond your scope... randy 77zt
you could probably get the trans-axle into a z but how good do you weld and how much shop equipment do you have?the zo6 will probably get much better gas milage than a home built small block .some of the street rod parts companys have harnesses and alternator brackits for these motors.its true you could build more hp but a properly installed z06 would be a good daily driver. Guest Anonymous
I havn't seen a Z06 transaxle so maybe I'm blowing smoke as always, but if it sticks forward very much you'll have the transaxle in your right bue-tock... Regards, Lone Ps: Can the motor be used, is there a bellhousing that bolts the driveline back to the transaxle?
Guest Anonymous
LONE ...A case of Preparation H would not solve the problem of the transaxle location. Major surgery with extended convalesence
jeromio
It's not even really a transaxle (even though I said it was) in the classic sense. It's a funny T56 with a diff bolted to it. No workee with Z. As is (LS1/T56 swapped in), the drive shaft is only 2 feet long. So you'd be talking about a 1 foot torque tube, 2 "bellhousings" and a HUGE transmission tunnel. Like, no room for seats anymore. Z06 has an LS6. LS6 = LS1 with slightly different heads and a different intake. The 98+ Camaro T56 bolts up to the block (it's the same block). The key issue however, is that the LS1 is not a 350. There ain't no kit. It's new territory for the idiots - er, uhm, I mean "brave" among us.
