j260z
i'm trying to get my intake cleaned up to send into the coaters. it is off a 95 LT1. i was wondering if any of the hoses that connect to the intake can be blocked off or whether they all need to be retained in order for the computer to function properly. There is also a pipe that returns exhaust gas from the passenger exhaust manifold into the back of the intake. when you are running headers do you just cap off that hole? Tim240z
Yup, you can just cap off the EGR hole to the intake, but remember to disable the EGR system in the PCM. As for vacuum line, I think you will only need 3: 1 for the valve cover breather which goes to the TB (cap off the vent below that one on the TB) 2 Vacuum assist for brake booster 3 vacuum signal for fuel pressure regulator. I think that you can cap the rest OH HANG ON!! you have the 95 motor, so you will need one more port for the vented optispark.
j260z
one more question. i couldn't tell by the pictures on your site whether you also removed the EGR valve? i think that is what is under the fuel pressure regulator also at the back of the intake. Guest JAMIE T
The EGR block-offs(two off them) are factory equipment on Grand Sport vettes. You can make your own out off aluminum. The vacuum line that comes off the EGR valve to the manifold could be blocked off, or you could keep it available for a guage or whatever. You don't actually need to disable the EGR in the ECU. My LT1 is pretty heavily modified, and has no EGR, etc... and I've never had the ECU re-tuned. I'm probably losing some HP, but, I've just not gotten around to it. I don't have any codes showing up from any of the mods I've done. Mine is a '94. It should be pretty much the same as the '95. BTW, I think the Opti-Spark gets vented to before the throttle body. Into the cold air induction.
Tim240z
Jamie, the Opti gets it's incoming air charge from the intake tubing (after the air filter), but is provided vacuum from the manifold....
Guest JAMIE T
OOHHHH... I've obviously not converted mine to the '95+ type Opti. Thanks for the correction.
