evildky Posted September 28, 2002 Share Posted September 28, 2002 why are these necesary ? the motor is mounted to the cross member so it gains no clearance from the x member, are they needed to clear the steering linkage ? and if so if I use a small dist can I do away with them ? zgeezer Posted September 28, 2002 Share Posted September 28, 2002 Their effect is to raise the body, thereby lowering the engine in the compartment relative to the hood. This would be necessary to clear carb and air cleaner. They can also have an effect on the angularity of drive shaft and 3rd member.
