CruxGNZ
Here’s something to bring back some memories. Remember these guys? Now here is something that was submitted to a Yahoo message board that is quite interesting, but funny. “Mid 80's the sesame street writers introduce the yipyips as extraterrestrial visitors that where simply lost, curious, and harmless aliens trying to find their way. These cute fuzzy creators were taken with mixed review by the public. Some children started having nightmares about the yips. As a result the directors limited the yipyip skits to only a few, hoping there would not be too much controversy and the yipyips would fade into history. The yipyips where just one of many tools used to ease fears of aliens in our society. The government approached Sesame Street and asked them to incorporate the yips into the show. In hopes children would warm up to the idea of aliens among us. As these children grew into adults they'd be more excepting of the possible existence of aliens. And in the off chance of an encounter we'd be calm and diplomatic, instead of shooting the visitors. The government knowing that an eventual encounter would take place needed to prep the general public and what better way than brainwashing the children of Sesame Street. Unfortunately, the plan backfired, too many kids where scared of the yipyips. So, the government dropped the idea and moved to teen viewing in primetime with such shows as V, the X Files and Babylon 5. One can't help notice the irony there (today's show was brought to you by the letter V and the letter X, and the number 5). Ever notice how most Sci-Fi shows involving aliens have a bold number or letter in the title?†I have yet to find a video clip of these guys from Sesame Street. I was laughing my butt off listening to a sound clip of the Yip Yip’s. “Yip yip yip, uh huh uh huh….mmmmm cow…. yip yip… cow…….MOOOOOOOO!†!M! johnc
Oh Geez! I do remember the yip, yips but someone is trying REALLY hard to tie them into some government/alien conspiracy. While I do believe there's life on other planets, I'm not so arrogant to think that Earth or the life on it would be of any interest to a society that has developed interplanetary travel. Douglas Adams had it right in the Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy. Our first contact with life that has developed interplanetary travel will be when the Earth gets destroyed to make way for an Interstellar Bypass.
