utvolman99 Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 Well guys, I am still in the progress of buttoning up my mouse. I installed my Victor Jr. intake last night but had a little problem. I read that the intake should be torqued to 30ft/lbs. The only problem is that I could only get to 6 of the twelve bolts with a torque wrench. I snugged all the bolts of in order then used a box ended wrench to tighten them all down pretty good. When I put the torque wrench on one of the bolts I could reach it still had quite a bit to go to get to 30lbs. From trial and error it seems like 30ft/lbs is just about what I can muster with a box end wrench. Is this okay? What should I of done? Tim240z Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 I've NEVER used a torque wrench on an intake and never had a problem. I usually use a ring wrench and use another ring on the open side of the first wrench for a bit of extra leverage, just for extra insurance. jt1 Posted March 24, 2004 Share Posted March 24, 2004 I've never seen an intake you can get to all the bolts with a torque wrench, although the newer vortec styles look more promising. Experiment with one you can get to with the torque wrench, then see what it feels like with a box end wrench, then pull them all about the same and you'll be fine.
