Gollum Posted April 19, 2004 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Hry yall, i'm a new z owner and my z make a little bit of noise and was curious if anyone coud help. It's a 80' 280ZX I'm not sure if it's the tranny but there is a bit of hum that sounds like tranny whine, but i'm not too sure what it is exactlly. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot it? And something in the rear clicks when i shift. Not when i move the stick, but when the clutch is enguaged and disenguaged. It sounds like a mild thumb. Not loud or painful sounding, but noticable. tannji Posted April 19, 2004 Share Posted April 19, 2004 for the tranny, check the mount and bushings, if there are any, been over a decade since I have looked. Also replace the bushings where the shifter attaches to the tranny. the rear sounds like either a bad mount, or bad joint in the drive shaft or drive axles.
