BillZ260
Satruday was AWESOME! Started off the day by hitting some garage sales with the wife and mother in law. Around 11 or so we are about to call it quits as I pull into this neighbor hood about a mile from my house to hit a couple last ones. Pull up and walking up to this house there is a dark blue/purple Z with a cowl hood, looked nice. So I am looking over the guy's sale stuff and on one table is a set of shorty headers and a set of collectors with some other SBC stuff. I ask and sure enough he is runnina 377 SBC in his Z! Pretty clean, made all the mounts and stuff himself. I got the headers and a hood relocation set up he made for 40 bucks, not bad right? Get home, and worked on getting the JTR kit installed with my dummy (read cracked) block and T-5 that afternoon, got the trans mounts cut out, and the X member holes drilled out and everythink mounted up. What a milestone. Makes me feel great, now only if I had a good block to rebuild. I have two in the garage that are worth nothin. I will post some pics when I get them on a disk, hopefully tomorrow. Every think fits nicely, I am happy! Oh, and if any of you care I am getting alot closer on my pool table projcet, mostly set up. I neet to finish leveling the 3 slates and it will be ready to re-felt and finish up. I can't wait to play! Anyway, this was a good weeked
Guest Aguyandaredhead
Hey i'm glad to see someone is getting something done on thier car. I know I have not been. I think I have seen that car in town before but I don't think it was driving down the road it was just sitting there. So hows that engine hoist working out for you, I know what it's like to have 2 of something in the garage that are not useable. It really startsa to irritate a person after a while. I still have not seen any smokin deals on any SBC's but I'm still keepin a eye out for you. Let me know if you need a hand Later Jeff
BillZ260
Thanks Jeff Well the hoist is working out great! BUT it is going to show a LITTLE wear. I have been doing most of this alone so it is almost imposible to avoid a couple of bumps and bruises. I was going to get with you about carpet now that I have my Xmember installed. I can start putting the interior back together. Man I am excited! I would like some help with the brakes and the clutch stuff. Brakes are leaking from somewhere and the clutch is , well , i really don't know too much about that at all I am having a hard time getting ahold of the guy that sold me the Vortec, but I think that is the way it is going to be, he is a wheeler dealer. Said he would find me another block, but I need to talk to him. Although if anyone finds a good shortblock, I could be in the market. Guest Aguyandaredhead
You bet, just let me know. I can give you a hand just about whenever. No sweat I usually beat the crap out of the large tools like that anyway. As long as she still works I really could care less. The brake thing should be no big deal and the clutch is it cable or hydro? either one should be easy to sort out. I got all my suspension back from the powder coaters and man is it sweet. I have hit somewhat of a raod block on the car so I have not had much done on it in the last few weeks. Let me know when you need a hand. BillZ260
Cool, I will holler at you, the clutch is hydro. So what do you need to get your project back on track? A swift kick or are you trying to make decisions before you move on? Would like to see your pretty suspension parts
Guest Aguyandaredhead
I really am just waiting on a few parts and then I must get it over to a frame guy to have the firewall tugged back out 1/2". I have the new frame rail installed and I have not patched the hole in the passs side firewall yet untill it gets pulled out slightly. I also broke (well they were testing a new material) a part on my bender and am waiting for it to come in so I can get back on the cage. I just ordered my stand alone computer for the RB and am so ready to start installing it for a trial fit before I start the body and paint. Well you know how it is it seems to happen in waves. BillZ260
Worked for about 4-5 hours on it last Saturda ALONE That was a good thing, no interuptions from anyone, except corvette guy I am looking forward to getting some help when the time comes. (SOON HOPEFULLY) Although I am bad about asking for help, I hate to intrude on others free time, etc... But anyone itching to come buy, I will gladly supply beer of choice, and a stool or a wrench It will be nice to have someone around to appretiate the car, my buddies and wife are supportive but, really have little interest in it. PS just found out this weekend will be spent in the YARD Beer is still up for offer on anyone wanting to help there
