jimszx
I know this isn't a Chevy question but the users of this forum are the friendlyist and always seem willing to offer an opinion. My 79 280zx is stock I haven't collected all the pieces needed for my V8Z conversion. My L28 engine has high milage 204000+ and has had good oil pressure for as long as I have owned it. But today on the way home from work I noticed that when I stopped at a light my oil pressure gage dropped to almost nothing. As I accelerated away from the light at about 2000 rpm the pressure came back up to normal. This continued all the way home. I am guessing my oil pump may be going out. Any ideas on thos problem? How much longer will the original engine last?
Tim240z
Moved topic to correct forum. Could be the oil pressure sender, they are known to go bad. L-series oil pumps are pretty reliable, so..... get yourself a mechanical oil pressure gauge to check the oil pressure. My $$ is on the sender....
