Z32 Front Upper Arms

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody. I'm a new member and found this site on my never ending search for mods for my '77 280 and my '94 300. I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

Here's my question. I'm looking to fix the camber problems on my '94 300 and am undecided about the front upper arms. I only see three choices at this point:

A) buy two new stock arms as replacement bushings are not available

B) get ripped off by Stillen for their adjustable arms ("on sale" now for

$379)

C) buy Courtesy Nissan's adjustable arms -I don't know what brand they

are but they're different from A) and B) in that the bushings are

replaced with bearings; these are around $380.

I can't stand the high prices asked for import car mods and want to make the best decision. Do any of you have any experience with this problem or the three options I've listed??

Regards,

MarkM

Personally, and I know a lot of others on this site agree, when you take into consideration the development costs, dealing with your own vendors, making a profit, etc., a pair of adjustable arms for under $400 really isn't that bad of a deal. The fact that two different manufacturers have almost the same price probably means that that's what they're worth.

The Z32's front suspension is unique, and adjusting camber isn't built in.

There's no adjustment for caster, either.

If you visit http://www.twinturbo.net, you'll find a lot of people with advice about the Z32's, both NA and TT models. One of the cottage industries called 300 Degree sells a camber adjustment eccentric for under $100 that permits people who use aftermarket springs that drop their ride height to get some camber adjustment. If your springs are sagging, this might just be the ticket for you too.

I agree also with Mike's comments about how expen$ive it is to make parts for this car. I hold a patent on an adjustable upper bracket for the Z32 which permits more positive camber adjustment than the 300 Degree approach, and it co$ts me more to make a set than the sales price I can get for them. I simply stopped doing that.

Hope this helps!
