mas8230
In addition to the problems I'm trying to work out, I noticed while the enging was cranking during the compression test, the hydraulic line from the clutch slave cylinder to the master was getting extremely warm to the touch!! Any ideas why??? The motor is yet to be fired ! It is an Earl's braided hose exactly what JTR recommended.
Z-TARD
Is it contacting any battery cables? A short through the braided stainless could cause it to get hot.
Datsun660z
Sounds like maybe you have a bad ground. and while cranking it is acting like a ground for the starter motor. Maybe?
LS1 Z
Without a doubt a bad ground. I ran in to this problem years ago on a 68 Camaro. My throttle linkage would get hot and spark everytime I cranked the motor over. To solve make sure your negative cable goes right to the starter or even block, to a bare metel surface.(not painted). can also add braided ground strap or straps from engine to body!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!
mas8230
Relocated the ground and the problem went away!! Thanks! Now, back to my other problems !!
