Guest POKINATCHA
I hope this isn't something thats already been beaten to death. I searched but didn't find anything on this particular idea. Would the crankshaft from an L24 possibly be compatible with an RB20DET block? Just thinking that would be a really cheap way to a decent sized DOHC straight six. 510six
How much is a RB20det going for these days.I would imagine it would end up being cheaper just to put a 3rd-4th Gen Supra drivetrain in a z.
Guest POKINATCHA
RB20's are really cheap, at least here in California. I haven't looked too closely at the prices of 7M's, but I can't imagine they could be much cheaper.
510six
Actually, I do know how it goes in California. As I live about 45 min south of you. I don`t know if the bore spacing between the L series and the RB is the same, I do know that the RB series uses a similar crank driven oil pump as the VG30dett motors and that it would be pretty expensive to have all of the machine work done to convert an L series crank to RB oil pump or to convert to an external oil pump.my.
Ben
The spacing is different, but the bearing sizes are the same. I was going to try & fit an RB25DE main bearing cradle to my L28, but no luck....
Guest POKINATCHA
Damn! Shoulda known it wouldn't be that easy Oh well.
RB26powered74zcar
hummm thats strange, I just had a torque plate made for my RB26 rebuild, and it is exactly the same headbolt/bore spaceing. I set the torque plate on either block, and the head bolts fit thru the same holes.... (different sized bolts tho)
