denny411
The 351 would be a good option. With the distributor in front you will be able to move the engine further back. Also, with the similarities between the Z and the mustang engine bay, you may have better luck finding headers to fit. My .02 anyway. Guest greimann
If you want to go Ford, that is pretty much uncharted territory for ZX's, so you are going to be on your own. The Chevy option is pretty straight forward except for, as Mr. Denny411 noted, the left side header. It takes a little tweaking. Also, a Chevy T5 trans fits real nice in a ZX. Guest 327zxer
what engine and tranny combo should I use.I was thinking ford 351w with a t-5 tranny but I noticed to upgrade that engine it would take alot more money than to do the same thing to a chevy 350. On a chevy 350 what manual tranny fits it.
Guest 327zxer
Is the Chevy T-5 a 5 speed if so where would I look for one.
DavyZ
Yes, it is a 5 speed. You can find them at automotive recyclers, classified ads, etc. The 'World Class' transmissions (the better T5's) came in 1988-1991 Camaros and Firebirds I believe. Mudge
I hear about bad luck with T5s under heavy power, so I'd probably avoid slicks. If you road race it may never be an issue. I'd go with a T56 from an LT1 car, the LS1 T56 wont fit an older style block.
