240zprace
510six said for a first timer at the track i did very good!!!! 1st run: R/T- .643 60'- 2.261 330- 5.591 1/8- 8.644 mph- 90.29 1000- 10.950 1/4- 12.931 mph- 108.12 2nd Run: r/t- .212 60'-1.744 330- 5.580 1/8- 8.579 mph- 82.72 1000- 11.188 1/4- 13.4 mph- 95.67 on the second run at about the 1/8 mile i backed off the throttle because my car didn't sound right. as you all can see for a 1st timer at the dragstrip, my very 1st run was satisfying. Corzette
Good job but looks like you had some serious wheel spin out of the hole....fix that and you can run mid to low 12s!!!
Scottie-GNZ
Congrats. Car has lots of potential. You had a good 60' on the 2nd pass but whatever went wrong started right after the 60' as the car was .5 slower between the 60' and the 330' compared to the 1st run. If the car was running right, the 2nd pass should have been in the 12.2 range. Car gained less than 18mph in the 2nd half and I would say you need to look into WOT tuning and I also think the 3.90 is part of the culprit. If that is just an open diff I would pick a 3.54 and swap that in. Corzette, congrats on your runs also. Hard for me to believe that a cam can gain 50hp over another performance cam but then I have not messed with NAs for a long time.
510six
For the very first run ever at the track a 12.9@108 is great, Talk to the Honda guys about how long it took to get into the 12`s.As for myself I had an intake hose blow off causing a lean backfire ,causing the air temp sensor to be destroyed then my car went dead rich, fouled the plugs as well. The car ran a 12.2@106 stumbling at the top end.I agree that with the 1.7 60` 240zprace's z should have run low 12's.I will have to try to talk him into putting an exhaust cutout on his car and tuning the FMU(as much as possible) at WOT with the WB02. Corzette
Scotty, I am going off the dyno test results from Comp CAms on the 270 vs the 282HR. It says on thier engine the 270 made 352HP and the 282 made 402. With that said shouldnt I run faster by swapping the old 282 back in? Any thought? I will give up only 20 in torque but pick up 50HP according to the dyno results chart. What should I do? Terry
Scottie-GNZ
Terry, without a doubt, put that cam back in. Losing a little torque from a SBC in a light Z might even help you a little.
