Gollum
Hey, i was at the track yesterday and a guy running a "bone stock" 350 chevy was running mid 13's. Itsn't this a little slow. When i questioned him about those times being normal or not he got really pissed offleading me to think he wasn't happy with the results. So, any ideas what a 350 should run on the slow end? Keep in mind i saw this guy lay down about 5 runs, all in the mid 13 range.
Guest zfan
That would seem to be about right on for a bone stock 350 sbc. They only put out 265 hp I believe. Thats not much more than 200 to the rear wheels. Lightly modded they go high 12's. Cam, intake, carb and headers! Also depends on what Z he was running? 240Z's are lighter than 280Z's or ZX's. That alone can be worth a few 10th's anyway! Mike
Pyro
JTR V8 conversion manual says to expect mid 14's at 95 mph for a stock 350 (185 bhp). Mid 13's means the guy was most likely using headers and a vortex 350. Not a bad run for a stock 350 in a Z.
Gollum
I know i've also seen a large range of crate motors you can call stock that produce a large range of power. He was running a first gen Z car. So i wonder why he seemed so pissed?? I guess we'll never know. The funniest part was there was a guy running a nissan turbo motor in mid to high 12's. Guest 007fastZ
Yea its really hard to pin down what a "stock" 350 is because from the late 60's to now 350's have been in almost any chevy vehicle, from 300hp and above camaros and novas to chevy vans.
