Anyone know what this is?

If you are refering to the cylindrical object in the upper left section of the top photo it is a solenoid to activate a transmission brake on an automatic trans. One wire goes to ground; the other to power via a momentary switch. When activated, the unit locks 1st and reverse gears allowing the engine to be revved to the limit of the torque converter. Then when the switch is released the gears instantaneously disengage and allow high rpm launch for drag-racing. Hope this explains it!!

Hanns,

Thanks for the information. The title was sort of a joke. This is the new powerglide tranny I put behind my twinturbo L28. It is was built by BTE and has a transbrake and full manual valve body. I use an Art Carr 9.5" billet converter and Quarterstick II shifter. I have to fab the tranny mount, driveshaft and redo the exhaust. Should be running in 3-4 weeks.
