Guest 85tzcheees Posted May 28, 2004 Share Posted May 28, 2004 has anybody ever done a Z31 LS1 swap? if so what trannys will fit? im thinking of doin this swap before december but i need lots of info, does anybody know what the main problems will be? i know im gonna have to custom make tranny/motor mounts. custom driveshaft. hood clearance. but im not sure if the steering coloum will be a problem or if the oil pan will be a clearance problem? Chaparral2f Posted May 28, 2004 Share Posted May 28, 2004 I am not sure about an LS1, but you should think about a header that dumps at the rear, as opposed to block huggers. The block huggers on my 350 only have about 2" clearance from the snout on the steering rack. For now I am using a carter carb, and Vertex mag. They are pretty tall, and don't clear the hood, but if the fuel injection and dist are stock, you should have room under the hood.
