Izzy that 350 turbo is a gas hog. That 350 SBC V8 Hybrid is going to rev up about as fast as you blink your eyes and place itsllf automaticly in DRIVE mode in about 200 feet from a standing start. Consider a 700 R4 or a 200 4R.

My dad once had a 67 Chevy Pickup with a 350 and a 350 Turbo Trans and she never did jump into drive. It did drink a little gas,but hey, what doesn't that has an automatic. They might jump into Drive automatically but that old truck and every other car that I've been in that had a 350 trans didn't do that.I'll prob. take your advice though.I just thought that I'd clear that up.

IZZY. my written communication maybe a little imprecise. In a lightweight Z car with a 3.54 to 1 differential ratio that Z will go from first to second to drive automatically by itself in about 3 blinks of your eye. I have a 2004r Overdrive GM tranny in my project which is smaller than the 700R4 but takes less HP to run and has faster acceleration gears in 1st and 2nd with a higher gas mileage overdrive. The 2004r will take abuse from a 300 HP SBC.The turbo 350 is a good tranny but over revs the engine in drive range.700 R4 is a good chice too. I am hoping for at least 20 mpg at less than 2000 RPMs travelling at 65 miles per hour

Does $595.00 sound like a good deal for that tranny? It comes with the converter and everything. All I have to do now is get the B&M Shifter. Will I have to change my stock Z rear end for this Transmission to work correctly?Let me know. rockon.gifrockon.gifrockon.gif

Thanks

About $600.00 plus core charge delivered close to your door (?). No specs or parts identfication on this Chev tranny.. The best ones came out of Buicks and the ultimate was a high performance model found in Gran National Turbo Buicks. You could probably find a better re-build deal in your local area.. You can probably pick one up in a junkyard with a 30 day warranty for $200.00..

Well,I've searched and searched for a T5 that will work for my SBC Conversion and nothing has shown for the price that I want to pay. :( .Oh well,I guess the good thing is that I can get a 350 Turbo Automatic for $300 plus the Automatic Shifter and a Torque Converter. It's fully rebuilt by a big name corporation. What do I need for a Torque Converter?Any suggestions?I was thinking about a Jeg's Street Converter??The 350 that I'm getting is one out of a 69 Chevelle.Do I need a Short or Long Shaft? And for either one of those shafts, what type of Converter will I need?I'm looking at one in the Jeg's catalog for $89.99 and it's a 12"/2000-2200 Stall/10.75" Bolt Circle. Will that work? And if it don't what will? Please let me know!

Thanks

Izzy
