Guest Anonymous
I am going to do a V8 conversion in my 77 280Z with a 350 and I was wondering what I needed..A 2 or 4 Bolt Main?I was thinking 2 Bolt, but I've been wrong one than a few times. Guest Anonymous
A 4 bolt main is supposed to be stronger if you want to build over 350HP. For most applications a 2 bolt is fine and readily available. It is actually hard to find a 4 bolt cheaply since everyone wants them
Tim240z
2 bolt will be fine. As a point of reference, my Dad ran mid 8 second 1/4 miles back in the early seventies with a blown sbc 2 bolt in a Chevy II. If you can find a 4 bolt for the same price and condition, obviously get it. Tim
Guest Anonymous
How can I tell the difference between the 2?I've heard that the dipstick is on the driver's side on the 2 bolt?? Izzy
Tim240z
Take off the oil pan and look. I have 2x 4 bolt blocks, dipstick is on driver's side on both. Completely irrelevant. Usually if it is from a pre 1973 truck, it will likely be a 4 bolt. Tim
383 240z
You will need to pull the pan off and look at the 3 center main journals they will have 2 bolts or 4 bolts holding each one on. Keith
Guest Anonymous
You may tell by the engine# check this website for location and #'s Moretec.com The other way is to remove the oil pan and count the bolts on each main block that covers the crankshaft journals Here we go again . I everytime I try to post Moretec.com. My post test begins with a prompt to download Korean Text followed by a web domain advertisement pop up and then this 'Albinon' penis enlargement crap.I want Moretec not more pec
Guest Anonymous
Thanks for all the help.It doesn't matter whether I get a 2 or 4 bolt block,I just didn't know if one of the 2 wouldn't fit.I'll check when I go just to kill time though lol. Thanks. Izzy
Guest m35514h
it doesnt matter, there are special pieces that you can buy to connect the bolts, and make your block stronger.
